Erasmus Mundus Program

erasmus mundus

Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility program for enhancing the quality of European higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures throughout all corners of the globe. By increasing mobility between the European Union (EU) and other parts of the world, its ultimate aim is to contribute to the development of human resources and strengthen international cooperation in education, as well as the promotion of the European Union as a center of excellence in learning within today’s globalized society.

The Erasmus Mundus Program was first pursued since 2004 to provide a response to the challenges of globalization faced by institutions of higher education. In late 2008, in accordance with the European Commission’s decision, the Erasmus Mundus Program was to be formally managed by the Education, Culture, and Audiovisual Executive Agency (EACEA). the new Erasmus+ Program is aimed for the same objectives for period 2014-2020, with the addition of sporting events and activities.

The EACEA is responsible for Calls of Proposals, project selections and agreements, financial management, and most importantly, the implementation of more than 15 EU funded programs in education and training.
